How to Spend a Rainy Day at Cliffrose Lodge

Rainy days aren’t common in Southern Utah, but we do see a few each month. But a little rain doesn’t have to mean that your vacation plans grind to a halt! When you stay at Cliffrose Lodge, you’ll have plenty of options for things to do, no matter the weather.

If you find yourself facing some rainfall during your stay, don’t just cancel your plans. Instead, keep reading to learn a few of the best things to do on a rainy day at Cliffrose Lodge!

Spend Your Day at Five Petals Spa

One of the best ways to pass a rainy day at Cliffrose Lodge is to spend the day at our on-site spa. Five Petals Spa is a luxurious, relaxing destination that offers a variety of Signature Massages and Facials. Inspired by the natural beauty just outside the door, this spa is the perfect spot to jumpstart your getaway or to relax after a long day of hiking—or pass the rare rainy day in Southern Utah!

Five Petals Spa is open daily to both guests of our Springdale resort and the public. You can browse their Signature Massages and Signature Facials ahead of your visit, and even book your treatment online.

The spa often offers specials that are great for getting the most bang for your buck. Right now, you can book the Summer in Zion special. This package includes a luxurious couples massage at Five Petals Spa, followed by lunch and non-alcoholic drinks at Anthera restaurant for two guests for just $249.

Another great special available now is the 160 Min. Hiker’s Retreat. For just $350, you’ll get a 50 minute massage, a 50 minute facial, and one breakfast or lunch entree and a non-alcoholic beverage from Anthera. This package is great for treating those sore muscles after tackling Angels Landing or spending several days on the trails in Zion National Park.

Enjoy a Meal at Anthera

If you work up an appetite during your rainy day at Cliffrose Lodge, you won’t have to go far to find something to eat. Our Springdale resort has its very own on-site restaurant! Anthera is a relaxed, patio restaurant that serves up delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners while diners enjoy the stunning natural views that surround them.

For breakfast, you’ll find traditional options like avocado toast, omelets, Brioche French toast, and fruit parfaits, as well as a variety of eggs benedicts and sweet and savory crepes. The lunch menu features an array of delicious, fresh appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and burgers, as well as gyros and savory crepes.

The dinner menu steals the show. It starts with appetizers like a hummus platter and Greek pita pizza that are perfect for sharing. Next up are some of the fresh salads that are also on the lunch menu. But the real star is the variety of entree options. Order up a hearty burger, pork or lamb, a decadent steak, or a delicious seafood entree like Citrus Ahi Steak with olive tapenade or Garlic Parmesan crusted salmon. There are also several pasta options to choose from if you’re looking for something filling and delicious after a long day in the park.

While it’s not required, we recommend booking your table ahead of time to guarantee your choice of dining times.

Take in the Views From Your Private Patio or Balcony

Our beautiful grounds with their lush botanical gardens are definitely a highlight of a Cliffrose stay. And one feature that our resort has that sets us apart from other Zion hotels is that every room has its very own private balcony or patio, complete with seating. Whether you book a Garden View room, a Grand View Suite, or a Riverside 1 Bedroom Suite, your room will include its own outdoor space for you to enjoy during your stay.

Your patio or balcony is the perfect spot to take in the views of the gardens, as well as the peaks of Zion in the distance or a glimpse of the Virgin River as it winds its way along the back edge of our property. Sip your morning coffee while enjoying the rainfall in the stunning scenery located just outside of your room.

Take a Scenic Drive

Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the scenery. Taking a scenic drive is a great way to see the sights without having to get wet on a hike. There are plenty of scenic drives to choose from during your stay.

If the Zion Canyon Shuttle is in operation, you can still drive your personal vehicle through the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel, and explore Zion’s Upper Canyon on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Or, head to the Kolob Canyons Road, a five-mile drive through the Kolob Canyons section of the park that climbs over 1,000 feet in elevation and offers incredible panoramic views of the red canyons and towering peaks of this section of Zion.
