What The World Would Be Like Without National Park Vacations

Without the opportunity for national park vacations, this world would be sorely different—in fact devastating.  Like living without ice cream or cookies, sure, you could do it, but would you really want to?  Cake and pie would never be the same, let alone hot days in the park. Much more than what tasty treats can do, a national park vacation takes lives to higher levels.  They do this with stunning vistas, exhilarating hikes, and unforgettable memories.  Take away the national parks, and we’re left with ordinary suburban fun spots and expensive trips to exotic places to achieve the rejuvenation we all need.  And that changes the world in the following ways.

Chaotic Fun Spots

Imagine a world without national park vacations.  To get the necessary rest and relaxation, people would flock in droves to local fun spots, making them intolerably crowded and much more expensive for admission.  Supply and demand would rear their ugly heads. When the local play places are the only games in town, they can charge whatever they want, and the people desperate for respite will pay it.  Lines will be like Disneyland in June, and competitive kids and parents will start fights like dogs. This will bring the overworked and underpaid security guards, who have grown impatient with ornery families.  They issue citations to both the kid and the parent. When the parent has to get off work to appear in court, the boss may have had enough of the missing work and issue the parent their “walking papers.” Being unemployed, the parent draws unemployment; but it’s not nearly enough, which can lead to other negative things.

Exotic Trips

The other popular options for rejuvenating mind and spirit are exotic trips.  While trips abroad can be marvelous, they are costly and frequently fraught with headache and danger.  Only the lucky ones with enough money take these exclusive jaunts. Many of the tropical beach cities are crime-ridden, where opportunistic thieves gawk and stalk.  When you least suspect it, your purse is gone, and your husband is off to the races. His football-playing days kick in and he tackles the thief, only to bash both his and the thief’s head against the concrete path.  To the hospital they go, concussed with brain delirium. The thief denies the crime, saying the purse looked just like his. After a couple of days in the hospital, your trip has ended and you have to catch the flight back home.  Thousands of dollars spent for a strawberry daiquiri and a concussion. As consolations, you’re your wife’s hero, and she has her purse.

The World With National Park Vacations

On the other hand, imagine the world with national park vacations.  Thankfully, you don’t have to imagine.  They’re in virtually every state of the union.  Utah has five of them! Unless you live right next to one, there is some travel involved, which adds to the anticipation and joy of the journey.  Normally, not more than a few hours, by car or plane, the magnificent national parks are inexpensive to enter, affordable to the masses. Charming towns, like Springdale, Utah, accompany the parks with nearby, classy lodges, restaurants, and gift shops.  Convenient and affordable are the watchwords. Because of the increased number of vacation options, which national parks provide, there are many days of not being crowded. Lines of people in state and national parks are hardly the same dynamic seen in amusement parks, which would be even worse if national park vacations did not exist.
